This section of the Colorado Trail starts out at US 550, passes through the Little Molas Lake Campground, and begins the ascent. You'll climb through an old burn area, which leaves wide open space to see the surrounding views. <br />
The elevation remains well above 10,000 feet for a good long while, and once you finish this section, you'll find yourself at Celebration Lake. This area can be more crowded since it's accessible by 4WD.
From Durango, take US 550 past Durango Mountain Resort to Molas Pass overlook and parking area. Restrooms available.
